“An unusual exploration into velocity”
from an idea by Andrea Benetti

Andrea Benetti‘s book, entitled “An Unusual Exploration into Velocity,” is unique in its kind. Initially conceived as a book on philosophy and art, it later welcomed prestigious contributions from the pens of university professors who are among the most renowned in their academic fields. The publication explores the concept of speed, with Andrea Benetti, the creator of the project, offering speculative insights on velocity and its relationship to the evolution of civilizations over time. He theorizes three types of speed (natural, mechanical, and absolute), which he represents through twelve artworks. He also included three photographs by Luca Vezzoso—one for each type of speed—and a sculpture by Lanfranco Di Rico, symbolizing speed in relation to humanity. The second part of the book features professors who each contributed a short essay on how speed has influenced, and continues to influence, their specific field of teaching—ranging from politics, law, and medicine, to music, philosophy, chemistry, and physics. The project is supported by international institutions and is published in both English and Italian. Introducing Andrea Benetti‘s pictorial work are four important critiques written by equally renowned critics and art historians. To provide the most comprehensive overview possible, we will list below the names of all the contributors to the book.
