Andrea Benetti in Venice for the Biennale
Andrea Benetti, in 2009, at the invitation of the Museum of Italian Contemporary Art in America (M.A.C.I.A.), presented the “Manifesto of Neo-Cave Art” at the 53rd Venice Biennale of Art, in the “Natura e sogni” pavilion at Ca’ Foscari University. Gregorio Rossi, curator of the Pavilion, presented the contents of the Manifesto alongside Andrea Benetti. The Neo-Cave Art Manifesto calls for a return to the origins of art, drawing inspiration from the aesthetics and symbolic values of prehistoric cave paintings, to rediscover a universal, authentic, and primordial language as a response to the crisis of contemporary art.
