The thirteen Crosses

The Collection, entitled “Signum Crucis”, portrays the symbol of the Christian Cross in a context of abstract painting. It is a distinct Collection from the subjects inspired by cave painting, which usually animate Andrea Benetti‘s art, though the works are nonetheless created using his signature pictorial style—bas-reliefs formed on plaster backgrounds applied to canvas. After a work depicting the Cross, dedicated to Saint John Paul II, was donated to Pope Benedict XVI by the Ente Morale A.N.F.E., the Emilian artist created the Collection, composed of thirteen works.
