D’Accursio Palace Municipality of Bologna “Colors and sounds from the Origins” by Andrea Benetti curated by prof. Silvia Grandi
On Saturday, April 13, 2013, the exhibition “Colors and sounds from the Origins” opened in Bologna’s Sala Ercole at D’Accursio Palace. A project by Andrea Benetti, curated by Silvia Grandi, with a musical performance by Frank Nemola, sponsored by Johns Hopkins University and DAR Department of the Arts, University of Bologna. Silvia Grandi, professor of Phenomenology of Contemporary Art, finds a strong complementarity between the two artists. In the text, she stresses how “Nemola’s musical-sound improvisation, combined with the icons and colors of Benetti’s works, makes possible, in a current and absolutely contemporary key, the return to that primal and original sensoriality preached more than forty years ago by McLuhan who, with the notions of “visual space” and “acoustic space” (The Medium is the Message, 1967), had theorized the return of man to a primordial sensory structure, full of emotions and synaesthetic faculties precisely thanks to the diffusion of electronic media.”
