A special invitation to the 61st F. P. Michetti Award curated by Carlo Fabrizio Carli

In July 2010, the LXI Michetti Award, entitled “Diorama italiano” was curated by Carlo Fabrizio Carli. The International Award for Contemporary Art, dedicated to Francesco Paolo Michetti, which has been held annually since 1947, in Francavilla al Mare, in the province of Chieti, is one of the most prestigious and longest-running contemporary art festivals held in Italy. Participation, as with the Venice Art Biennial, is by invitation only. In 2010, crowning a year filled with success, Andrea Benetti was invited to take part in the 61st Michetti Award. Andrea Benetti presented himself with works dedicated to the abstractionism of Neo-Cave painting.

Out of the art review of the Michetti Award came the most important names of artists of the second half of the twentieth century. The same, or perhaps more, can be said of the Award’s curators, who were certainly the most important names in art criticism, of the second half of the century. From Achille Bonito Oliva to Renato Barilli, via Stefano Zecchi and Beatrice Buscaroli, Philippe Daverio, Carlo Fabrizio Carli, Enrico Crispolti, Maurizio Calvesi…
