I Have Examined Some Works by Andrea Benetti Destined for Foreign Museums

I was taken by surprise upon seeing these small creations—small only in size. I had known Andrea for some time, and I had been following his work with interest for a while. What struck me about him was his passion, which transcended the present—he was already living in tomorrow. I admired his pictorial language, that underlying nemesis of the passionate artist, but those small panels he showed me left me in awe.
I felt as if I were Diego Martelli when he first saw the early Macchiaioli panels by Cabianca, Signorini, and Fattori. Astonishment floods the mind, sparking a short circuit in its folds.
This goes beyond mere figuration; the form is dismantled and reassembled in a peculiar continuum. In those simple shapes and volumes, there lies an almost esoteric sense of composition and concept.
The forms are ancestral, almost primitive in their elemental nature, yet there is nothing simplistic about them. They are infused with thought and rationality.
Bon voyage, then, little splendors.
