Andrea Benetti

Andrea Benetti is an Italian visual artist, born in 1964. A painter, photographer and artistic designer, he is also the author of installations and video art works. In 2006, he conceived and drafted the Manifesto of Neo-Cave Art, which was presented in 2009, at the 53rd Venice Art Biennial, at Ca’ Foscari University. In summary, the Manifesto is inspired by the origin of art, which originated in the caves of Prehistory. In his own works, Andrea Benetti cites, transfigures and reinvents concepts and forms of Rupestrian painting, as hypothesizes an imaginary bridge between the contemporaneity of art and its genesis. For nearly two decades, Andrea Benetti has been carrying out projects in collaboration with various universities, including the universities of Bari, Bergamo, Bologna, Ferrara, Johns Hopkins University, Lecce, Messina, Roma Tre, and Venice. Thanks to the collaborations developed over the years, Neo-Cave painting has been included by some universities in the university research program, in the field of contemporary art.
